Seabrook House Embraces National Alcohol & Drug Addiction Recovery Month

SEABROOK, NJ (September 2, 2008) -- September is National Alcohol & Drug Addiction Recovery Month and Seabrook House, an internationally recognized inpatient treatment center, is observing this time with great programs and events taking place all month. The following is just a few of the ways Seabrook House is promoting the message that recovery from addiction is possible and that treatment works. Seabrook House’s vision is to make recovery possible for every family who needs it and to educate the public at large in an effort to reduce the stigma associated with addiction.

First and foremost, over 3 million commuters this month will see a Seabrook House sponsored billboard on northbound Interstate Route 95 in Philadelphia, PA-- the fourth largest media market in the nation. This billboard will broadcast Seabrook House’s support for National Alcohol & Drug Addiction Recovery Month and its dedication to helping those in recovery, as well as provide website links so that those in need will be able to seek immediate help.

On September 18th, MatriArk at Seabrook House is holding an “Inside MatriArk Family Center” open house from 10am until 12pm in an effort to raise awareness of its state-funded MatriArk program. The program is unique in that it reunifies addicted mothers with their children and teaches them basic life skills necessary to become productive members of society. During their visit at the facility, guests will hear from a current MatriArk resident about how her experience at the facility has affected her life and tour the center’s extensive grounds, among other presentations.

What better way to support this year’s Recovery Month theme, “Join the Voices for Recovery,” than by inviting alumni back to campus for an alumni picnic to form a community with other patients of the past and present? On September 21st, Seabrook House will be hosting an alumni picnic from 8:30am until 2:00pm. Alumni are encouraged to return to share their experience, strength and hope and offer support to current patients in treatment. They will get a chance to reconnect with past friends and the opportunity to speak with these current patients about life after Seabrook House.

Seabrook House Foundation will be holding its 12th Annual Golf Classic on September 26th at the Seaview Marriott in Galloway Township, NJ. The event benefits the Patient Care Fund which provides financial support to those who can not afford addiction treatment but are committed to the standards of a full recovery. The Patient Care Fund helps fulfill Seabrook House’s vision “to make recovery possible for every family who needs it” and has contributed $513,421 to the treatment of more than 115 patients since its inception in 2001.

From September 29th-October 1st, Seabrook House President Ed Diehl, Vice President of Business Operations Matthew Wolf and Clinical Outreach Representative, Lindy Judd will be attending the “Moment of Change” conference in Santa Monica, CA to further their education training in family interventions. The three day event features presenters from across the country speaking on a variety of topics from alternative approaches to interventions, different family therapy methods and the mechanics of intervening.
